The end of the (totem)pole

I tried that same thing again, but I think I have had less of a success on this one as compared to the first series of drawing.

Still...it's a great experiment and I'm glad I'm doing this.

It makes me think in a different way.

As for the story...I'm not sure where they are going now...

Going up part two, three, four, five and six

After I did that piece, i realized that I tend to see my work as pieces of still animations.

So, I figured I should someday try to break one of these apartin different moment...and, since I already had the set up, it really didn't take me that long to add extra character positions in there.

I think the result is pretty interesting, no?

The totem pole

God..I've been trying all day to post this image on my blog, but , for some reason, I just couldn't get on.
It seems a bit better now.
So.. anyhow..happy Tuesday.
And, guess what?
This is my #500 sketch since I've started sketch of the day a year and a half ago!
Yahoo.
Ok..if you do the maths, there has NOT been 500 days since I've started.
The reason for this amount of sketches, is that I sometimes did a few sketches in a day, and only posted one, and, I also did a bunch of sketches for freelance jobs, and friends, and other things that I still put in the folders.
All,in all, there probably is only about 400 sketches that have been posted, maybe even a bit less, but the bulk of them is 500 as of today!
So.. I'm happy!

I was sick over the weekend, and am still recovering.
That's why I'm redoing a type of sketch I've done before.

The sad girl

I was asked by my beautiful fiance to try and draw a sad girl.
She noticed that I don't do enough deep emotions in my drawings.
Probably because I'm afraid of not being able to.
Thanks to her, here I go..

I think it turned out allright, it's very interesting to try and draw though.

snow white and the sevn miners

For drawer geeks...the theme is snow white.
Since I'm still trying to get back to my normal way of drawing after the break, I'm starting with images that may look more simple than usual...but, it's still great practice.

After a break, I feel like I need to relearn how to draw and motivate myself for it.
Anybody ever feels like that?

HAPPY NEW YEAR

After a very eventful end of the year, I'm back with a new computer, and a few other things as well.
I haven't drawn or animated anything since the last post.
so...I'mp robably going to take a few to get back to speed on this.

I'm having fun trying different ways of approaching drawings.
They don't always come out great, but they always have a little something in them.
I don't think this is my best, by far, but is has it's own little charm, doesn't it?

Feliz Navidad

A few weeks ago, Katrina and I went to a game night where we sung FELIZ NAVIDAD quite a bit.
It beacme a little running joke with her and me and our friends.
I was thinking it would be nice to have a little animation of it!
Since I already did a Xmas card this year,I didn't want to spend too much time on this one, and tried to aproache it as an exercice in minimal animation.
I think it's still pretty fun..and, honestly, you can't go wrong with that song!

The theme of the week for the frog blog we do at work was Sherlock Holmes.
I did this one pretty quickly because I never thought of using it as a final piece.

I got a bike this weekend.
Had Indian food again( I think I must be sick, an addiction or something..I just can't get enough of it), wen to a very interesting Philipino event( katrina is Filipino), and, just had a ton of stuff to do.

I also cleaned up my computer and "organised" my sketches.
I had actually more than I thought!

Now it's monday..

School Days

That was another one done for the ehroes Theme..but i'm not so happy with it.
It's still a nice little piece, but doesn't have the usual punch i'd like them to have.
I think I was on a roll, and it stopped when some F.cking A..holes stole my byke yesterday!

It does put a cramp on your personal stuff.
sigh...


anyhow...
It's friday, and that will be one hell of a good weekend( plus, I plyaed katamari last night ...hadn't played it in a while..that was awesome..i love rolling the people over!)

on a side note.
There are a few "drawing blogs" that I thought some of you guys would like to check out.
One of them, of course, is Drawergeeks.
A bunch of very talented people such as Sarah Mesinga, Mark Behm, Bryan Ballinger, Greg HArdin post every two weeks some drawings based on a common theme there.
I just got in with them, and must say what a GREAT experience that is.
I can't say enough about group activities like that.
They just push you to do something that is not always in your comfort zone, with very little stress.
Beats most schools I know. you can find it HERE


Other really cool drawing blogs like that are the blue sky studio challenge, with artists like Agent 44, or any of the blue sky designer in fact( you can say whatever you want about a feature, you have to admit that the artists on these movies are all individual SUPERstars) HERE it is

and, one that I discovered not very long ago and that has my mouth watering each time I take a look at it is the AVALANCHE studios blog which you can find HERE


And, on a final note.

litlle hero

for one of the "theme" drawing groups i participate in, we had as HEROES as our subject matter.
After thinking about it, I realised that anybody can be a hero.
It just depends on the actions you do, and why you do them.
Even little kids can be heroes when they sacrifice a bit of their own good for someone else's.

Anyhow... this is one of the pieces I came up with.

By the way.
I went to see FLUSHED AWAY yesterday.
and, boy, surprisingly, it's a GREAT , Fun movie!
Don't let the character design deceive you, and don't expect the movie to change your life,( just your perception of French Frogs maybe), but, if you want to laugh a little, a lot even....go see it.
It has the same type of humor as wallace and gromit, maybe a little less refined, but in the same vein.
That's my two cents!

I especially liked the slugs...you'll see why...and the frogs, of course!
