I'll toss in two cents and just say that I've noticed a bit of the opposite in artists. The ones that draw or focus in a specific way on alot of violence and gore have probably never seen or experienced somebody getting killed in front of them. Those that have seen their fair share of suffering tend to gravitate towards what they'd want to see, which is usually happy or ideal. I think alot of us fall in between there somewhere.
