Trash

When I was in college I worked at this restaurant nearby.
As odd as it sound,  taking the trash out at the end of the service was always a relief because the kitchen was so hot and it was so cool outside.
Weird subject I know but it actually brings back good memories.
On a different note.. I feel like I just stumbled into a new area of art where all of a sudden I know nothing at all. Does that ever happen to you guys? When you are strolling along with your art and Boom.. you uncover this one little way of doing shapes, painting a cloud, seeing a relationship between space and objects and all of sudden it's like you're a baby and you are relearning art? Is that just me??
Just curious.

Discomfort with drawing, usually a good sign. Boundaries being pushed, revisiting old techniques from the drawing toolbox. In retrospect it's a good thing, but at the time it's no fun for sure.

If you mean with these images, it might be the revisiting of memories, the mix between trying to recall specific details along with the overall feel of the time and place. Have had similar recently, and it does play with the ability to just focus on the drawing when the whole thing is kind of a paradox: Nailing the spacial accuracy, but also the way you felt about it. Is kind of like trying to illustrate a dream you had several weeks back; there's a bunch of info you end up having to leave out: Adjacent rooms or places that framed the environment, the creaky door that you had to open to get there, the events before or after that time, people that made the place special. Or, details that have to be fudged because we can't recall everything.

And the drawing has to do all of the walking most times, no description. That's the most difficult.
