Snow Bunnies

Obviously, the lost bunnies are not that sad about it.
(^__^)
This drawing is also a wink at the drawing I did Last year for the BEGINNING of the sketch of the day of 2006.
Since this ones will probably be the last of this year, I thought it would be a nice thing to close it where I started it.

Have a great Friday, a merry Christmas, and a wonderful new year.
Cheers.

Forest friends

I'm having fun trying different ways of approaching drawings.
They don't always come out great, but they always have a little something in them.
I don't think this is my best, by far, but is has it's own little charm, doesn't it?

The train ride

This is a piece I tried doing by using only three colors. I sort of cheated when I added the shadows, But I still think it works pretty well.

on a side note, my xmas card is part of the channel Frederator's episode today.
Go check it out!

Feliz Navidad

A few weeks ago, Katrina and I went to a game night where we sung FELIZ NAVIDAD quite a bit.
It beacme a little running joke with her and me and our friends.
I was thinking it would be nice to have a little animation of it!
Since I already did a Xmas card this year,I didn't want to spend too much time on this one, and tried to aproache it as an exercice in minimal animation.
I think it's still pretty fun..and, honestly, you can't go wrong with that song!

My litlle Christmas Card

Good morning everybody.
AMidst all the craziness of this month, due in equal parts to work, work, and more work, I needed to take a break and find some time to celebrate this joyous Holliday.

for a little card for all who like easy fun, and totally simplistic animation.
I hope this starts you off with a smile on your face.

Sherlock who?

The theme of the week for the frog blog we do at work was Sherlock Holmes.
I did this one pretty quickly because I never thought of using it as a final piece.
But, it turned out kind of nicely, and I decided to use it as is!

One of my friends, Mike Maihack, is doing a comic strip called COW and Buffalo.
He's putting together a compilation of his work of the past two years, and has asked me and some other friends to do a little drawing of his characters for him.
Here there are.
You should also check out his website

Tchoo tchoo

I got a bike this weekend.
Had Indian food again( I think I must be sick, an addiction or something..I just can't get enough of it), wen to a very interesting Philipino event( katrina is Filipino), and, just had a ton of stuff to do.

I also cleaned up my computer and "organised" my sketches.
I had actually more than I thought!

Now it's monday..
sigh...

School Days

That was another one done for the ehroes Theme..but i'm not so happy with it.
It's still a nice little piece, but doesn't have the usual punch i'd like them to have.
I think I was on a roll, and it stopped when some F.cking A..holes stole my byke yesterday!

It does put a cramp on your personal stuff.
sigh...

anyhow...
It's friday, and that will be one hell of a good weekend( plus, I plyaed katamari last night ...hadn't played it in a while..that was awesome..i love rolling the people over!)

The new pet

phone doodles are just the best.

on a side note.
There are a few "drawing blogs" that I thought some of you guys would like to check out.
One of them, of course, is Drawergeeks.
A bunch of very talented people such as Sarah Mesinga, Mark Behm, Bryan Ballinger, Greg HArdin post every two weeks some drawings based on a common theme there.
I just got in with them, and must say what a GREAT experience that is.
I can't say enough about group activities like that.
They just push you to do something that is not always in your comfort zone, with very little stress.
Beats most schools I know. you can find it HERE

Other really cool drawing blogs like that are the blue sky studio challenge, with artists like Agent 44, or any of the blue sky designer in fact( you can say whatever you want about a feature, you have to admit that the artists on these movies are all individual SUPERstars) HERE it is

and, one that I discovered not very long ago and that has my mouth watering each time I take a look at it is the AVALANCHE studios blog which you can find HERE

And, on a final note.
For all of you that read blogs and don't post notes, either because you're not logged in, you are shy , you are French and don't feel good about your writting, ( yup, Anne, Got your email, and I REALLY REALLY liked it!)....well... THANK YOU , because I sometimes hear about people who have seen my stuff, or my friend's stuff..and, well... that just feels good!
So...
HAVE A GREAT DAY everybody!

Cheers.

Heatwave

I love classic images ..it seems a good western always has some recurring situations that you just can't avoid.

Anyhow...
it's Wednesday, stay warm, because it is wet out there!

litlle hero

for one of the "theme" drawing groups i participate in, we had as HEROES as our subject matter.
After thinking about it, I realised that anybody can be a hero.
It just depends on the actions you do, and why you do them.
Even little kids can be heroes when they sacrifice a bit of their own good for someone else's.

Anyhow... this is one of the pieces I came up with.

on a different note.
My very good friends ROb Shaw and Jeff Riley, from Bent Image Lab(www.bentimagelab.com)
just finished animating and directing THIS music video

Clickon the giant robot and little girl( I know this is going to get some of you guys going!) and enjoy.

The astronaut

Dreaming of the stars starts Early...
and , today, is an EXTRA early day at work.
I can't believe I'm having a seven thirty conference call..on a MONDAY!
hunghhhh......

That's tortuous....

By the way.
I went to see FLUSHED AWAY yesterday.
and, boy, surprisingly, it's a GREAT , Fun movie!
Don't let the character design deceive you, and don't expect the movie to change your life,( just your perception of French Frogs maybe), but, if you want to laugh a little, a lot even....go see it.
It has the same type of humor as wallace and gromit, maybe a little less refined, but in the same vein.
That's my two cents!

I especially liked the slugs...you'll see why...and the frogs, of course!

for the hell of animation

Sarah, one of my co workrs and I were talking the other day about what was hard in animation.
I was telling her that doing two or three characters interacting was especially hard for me.
And she sort of challenged me to do more than that.
So, I did six of them, in my very own peculiar style.

It's nothing very funny, but my god, what a good exercice!
I tried to add some follow through on that, But i'm getting tired, and it doesn't look all that good.

Still, It's aninteresting little piece!

you can see it
HERE

Ah!
Also.
It's a four megabyte file, and there's no preloader.
Justin case you have a slow connection!

Friday.. YEHAAA!!!
SLEEP..here I come!
Oh yeah!

Thursday, October 26, 2006

Booh!

Ok, ok...this is a very crummy sketch... But it's punch packed with fun characters that should make up for the lack of sense!
Tadadada!

needless say, once again..i'm busy as ever, and my bike's got a flat, our dog has leakage problems, the coffe was missing this morning, people that should've called me by now haven't called yet( hurry up dude!), etc etc...
oh.... what a fun day!
Love this!

Wednesday, October 25, 2006

half a skecth

A little rushed( ahahahahha...I can't believe I said a "little") ontime today.
so.. instead of the full sketch I wanted to do, here's half of that sketch.
If I get a chance, I'll finish the rest tomorrow.
IF.....i get the chance

on the road again

ok... the image and the comments have no relation, but...
I was reading on Yahoo news yeterday, an article about being great at what you do , and talent.
They were basically saying that no one really has talent.
Maybe we just have better ability to put purselves through certain process, but, as they put it, targeted talents just don't exist.
All it takes is a LOT of work.
Hard and Smart work to become great.

That actually inspired me.
I used to be the kid who couldn't draw.
I started doing stick figures when I was in six grade, and would tell stories like that.
I figured that if I wanted to do stuff like Gaston, Asterix, or spiderman, I'd better learn how to draw.
And I pushed myself.
I guess I got somewhere...

Lately. I have been feeling as if I wasn't going anywhere anymore.
Now, I'm actually happy to learn again!

Anyone ever feel that?

ok.. that was my tuesday philosophical spiel..
Let's not make it a habit

Monday, October 23, 2006

monday sketch

this is a sketch I did for the intro page of the story for Flight.
and the other one, the guy hopping on the planet is for my fried Kevin,Ang, who's taking off for a loooooooooooooong ass trip to Asia.

I'll miss you kev!
Have fun.

On a different note, I went diving( Kat and I are gettinng certified) ,..and, GOD...am I whipped today.
I feel like there' s so much stuff going on in my life right now, thatit becomes harder to focus on art and work.
Anybody ever have that feeling?

When I sit down to draw, now, it's like a new experience each time.
I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but it's definitely interesting.

The whole whirlwind should slow down in a bit, and I'll be able to focus again.. meanwhile.....
wow.. what a ride!

Friday, October 20, 2006

the grim reaper

That was a theme for this week's drawer geeks.
for some reason, I wasn't at all inspired to do a walking skeleton.
The deadline came, and i just popped this one out of my head..
interesting take on it, that's what I thought!

anyhow....
a modern version of the grim reaper, based on Marvel's pretty popular character(that's for Mike by the way!)

and another one , done for a friend of mine who's very much into the last unicorn!
There you go stephanie... I was wondering where that last one went...

Thursday, October 19, 2006

hey YOU!

I'd never done a super hero for the skecth of the day before...
ha/funny.....

and I use to be a marvel geek!

Wednesday, October 18, 2006

wednesday is forest day

nope.. no reason for that title.
I had no idea what to put up here.

anyhow..
have a great midweek everybody

Tuesday, October 17, 2006

busy busy busy

Yup...the title says it all.

BUT, to explain...
It's not just WORK busy( allthough there is a lot of that!)
I'm just really having a full life these days, and, god, that feels good!
The proportion of work and fun are still off though, way too much work than fun, but the fun I have, thanks to my dear fiance, is just incredible.

The reason why I'm mentioning this, is simply because I'll be slowing the posts a bit for a little while, and might be putting up some older work, or different work , or, heck, even talk about some friends!

This piece here, is a concept I did for work actually( yup, for all of you guys who thought I didn't work!)
I liked it..and I haven't any new stuff to show...therefore...here it is!

Monday, October 16, 2006

one of hose mondays

when something doesn't feel quite right, you know?

Like, I'm a little off....
hmm..
oh. and, yes, this is a turkey suit.
Some people will know ... (^__^)

Friday, October 13, 2006
