This is a slightly different sketch for me.
Instead of doing it all digitally, or traditionally, I did a mix of both.
I started by sketching the bathroom while on the train, and, after I'd scanned it in, I thought...hmmm.. how would it look if I drew in characters digitally?
I'm only so so with the results, but it's an interesting process , and I think there's definitely something to it.
What do you guys think?
Here is the version without character
and here's the one with characters

More ( Train) doodles
Since I have a longer train commute now, I use this time to either sleep, read or sketch. This past week's been sketching rather than reading or sleeping
Also, being on the train tends to make me more introspective, which brings up a lot of memories, and I see these pop up in these drawings!
A cross memory between Italy and France
Market day in Martigues, where I grew up ( it's roughly Martigues)
A corridor in my old kindergarten school ( I've NO idea why I was thinking of that)
A path way behind Molly Stones, a local food store, in Burlingame

Greetings Artists!
The Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society (BEBHS) is personally inviting you to take part in this year's Fourth Annual Purrcasso Art and Craft Gala. Purrcasso is an auction event that showcases cat and dog-themed art. You have received this email because we love your artwork and think it would be a great addition to this year's show. In the past we have included illustration work from Bay Area talents like Pascal Campion, Bill Presing, Mike Daley, Steph Laberis, Brittney Lee, and many other gifted artists. (We are based in the Bay, but are happy to accept art from anywhere willing to send it!) We accept many different types of art - illustrations, paintings, ceramics, prints, clothing...whatever you like to create! To get started with a donation, mosey on over to http://purrcasso.org and check out our Online Submission Form. We are hoping to have pieces shipped to us for the show by October 17, 2009.
Not only is Purrcasso a wonderful opportunity to use your artistic talent for the good of needy animals, it is a great way to meet new artists and get a little exposure for your work. If you have a blog, please consider posting a description/link to our site, http://purrcasso.org. Purrcasso 2009 will be held on Nov. 7 and 8, 2009. The location will be announced shortly. Please direct any questions to Purrcasso Co-Chairs, Bill Robinson (billiamrobinson@gmail.com) or Julia Clayton (purrcasso@live.com).
To give you an idea of how important Purrcasso is to the BEBHS, past events have raised over $12,000 and enabled us to provide shelter, food, and medical care to more than 10,000 animals through our programs and services. Our goal this year is to net $15,000.
Your donation will be formally acknowledged by the BEBHS. In addition, you will be recognized through our website and bi-annual magazine distributed to over 12,000 Bay Area households. For more details about donations, timeline, and the event itself, please visit our website.
We look forward to featuring your work!
Sincerely,
Bill Robinson and Julia Clayton

Water moon
...After doing the ducky image yesterday, I went back and looked at another ducky image I did a while ago...and it inspired me to do this one.

Chicken Nugget Lemon Tooty
A few days ago, I stumbled upon this site, called, Chicken Nugget Lemon Tooty.
http://isaacgracelily.blogspot.com/
It's a blog done by three kids, Isaac (10), Grace ( 9), and Lily ( 6)..the Z-kids
They read children's books and make reviews of them as well as drawings of what their favorite moments of the story is, and have been going at it for three years now!
They are also inviting artists in general, amateur or professional, to do a drawing of THEIR drawing.
When I saw that one of the kid's name was Lily, I was very interested, and this is what I did with of one of This Lily's drawing.
If any of you artists out there feel inclined to do this...It's really a fun little thing to do and I'm sure it'll bring a smile to the face of these eager young artists, not to mention a strong dose of encouragement!
Cheers
